My most favorite restaurant in town.
You HAVE to try the tuna appetizer. It's a tower of sushi-grade ahi layered with watermelon. It's amazing.
I had (don't judge me!!) the fried snapper and the lamb (two mains.... go big or go home) and they were one better than the other
Great location, easy street parking, friendly staff and NYC prices in downtown Sarasota. -

They are suppose to close at 11:00 we arrived at 10:20 and they had already closed the kitchen.... ???
Then they should post they close at 10:20 or10:30, not 11:00....
Sad
They do have good food, I have eaten there before, but their service is poor. I will think twice before going back. -

My family and I went back to Selva after enjoying this restaurant 4 years ago and it is still great. There are several different good appetizer choices but we really enjoyed the short rib egg rolls.
This is a great place for a date or double date, you don't have to shout to hear each other across the table. There are several great cocktails and a wonderful wine list.
The entrees are great including their Seafood Paella (several ingredients I'm not a fan of but this dish is awesome so be bold and give it a try) and Whole Fried Snapper (yes the head and tail are still on it but it is amazing).
There is a reason Selva Grill is winning awards, the food, service and experience separate them from the crowd in Sarasota. -

We came here on a recommendation of a neighbor, it exceeded our expectations. We came here to have their strip steak and all 3 of is got the Grilled Grouper over veggies, tomatoes & pearl couscous in a light red sauce. It was a wow dish, amazing, better than delicious!
Our server was top notch quality too.
The decor was a bit dark and a touch of 90s Miami feel yet the food far exceeds the decor. There was a connecting bar on the other side of the restaurant which was packed with a mix of young & old. It's obviously the place to be on Friday night.
Looking forward to coming back! -

If presentation counts then the Selva Grill receives an A-plus. My wife has been here before with our son and his wife and all love the ceviches. I pass but my wife wanted a night out and wished to dine here. Unfortunately, no ceviches were ordered as there was no one to share with. We did split a house salad and for her entree, my wife ordered the skirt steak. I ordered the special for the night which was sea bass and lobster. My wife was very happy with her meal and I found the sea bass and the risotto very good. Indeed, I did receive a lobster tail on a bed of asparagus but I joked that the size was more crawdad than lobster, Regardless, we enjoyed the meal and ended with a dessert of pot of mousse. All of the dessert is edible as the "pot" and its lid are chocolate.
Our server was attentive but as the restaurant filled, he was kept busy but other servers stopped by as they observed a need to be attended to. For a romantic evening out, the Selva Grill is an excellent choice.
Parking is where you can find it but on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, valet parking available and I would suggest you take advantage of it.
